Flammekueche can be served along with the aperitif,
as an appetizer or as an evening meal together with
a fresh salad and a glass of white Alsatian wine: Riesling,
Tokay, Pinot Gris, Kaefferkopf, Gewürztraminer.
In some villages, people even drank " Marc de Gewürztraminer"
(Gewürztraminer alcohol).
According to taste, it can be sprinkled with Emmental
cheese, baked in
the "au gratin" method.
The Apple Flammekueche is fantastic as a dessert, sprinkled
with cinnamon-sugar (it comes in a packet with the tart),
flambé with "Calvados" * or just sprinkled
with sugar, soaked or flambéed with "Grand-Marnier"
*.
You can also add a portion of vanilla ice cream.
